About Us

Golden Alpha is the investment manager handling the Sohmen family's investment activities. The Golden Alpha investment mandate covers private and public investments, both direct and through external investment managers. The Sohmen family's operating business is the BW Group, a leading global maritime group involved in oil and gas transportation, floating gas infrastructure, environmental technologies, upstream E&P and deepwater production. The group was founded by Sir Y.K. Pao in Hong Kong in 1955 as World-Wide Shipping and was rebranded as BW following the acquisition of Norway's largest shipping company Bergesen in 2003. Golden Alpha was the name given to the first ship purchased by Y.K. Pao.

Job Description

  • Assist in preparing journal entries, accounting schedules, and financial statements
  • Assist in managing capital call contributions and distributions, and maintaining capital call schedules
  • Assist in annual internal audit (Fund) and external audit (Fund Manager), and preparation of audit schedules
  • Assist in preparation of bank reconciliation, bank remittance
  • Assist in managing cash flow
  • Assist in investment subscription such as preparation of KYC and subscription documents
  • Assist in maintaining daily trade reconciliation and analyzing investment result
  • Assist in distribution of NAV statements, Investor reports, Notices, and other reports received from the various Fund Administrators
  • Assist in the trading operation of the Indian long equity positions including uploading of trade blotters, preparation of FX conversion documentation, etc
  • Assist in annual MAS reporting submission, IRAS tax reporting, and GST submission
  • Assist in annual budgeting
  • Assist in maintaining policies for the Fund and Fund Manager
  • Assist in inputting and maintenance of data in the Masttro system
  • Assist in any ac-hoc requests (i.e. performance analysis or reports) from investment team

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years work experience at managerial level in corporate accounting related roles.
  • Working knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards preferred
  • Most recent work experience should include:
    • Preparation of financial statements
    • Preparation of financial reports
    • Preparation of audit schedules and liaison with auditors
  • Strong computer skills and experience
  • Prior experience in Fund Management will be an advantage
  • Mature and strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable in handling high volume work in a fast paced environment
