JOB TITLE College Finance Officer
REPORTS TO College Manager
LOCATION Hybrid - ICPPD Athlone / Online as agreed
JOB SPECIFIC 24 hours per week / 3 days
Overview:
ICPPD is a private higher education provider of education programmes and is a leader in the field of personal and professional development for members of the public and for professionals in the caring and helping arena. The programmes offered are rooted in the humanistic tradition and the focus is on meeting the learner on a physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and behavioural level. ICPPD offers a suite of programmes from certificate, third level and post-graduate professional courses.

Overall Purpose of Job:
The Finance Officer is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and financial information relied on in the decision-making process by the Board of Directors of ICPPD. Key to the role is ensuring that financial reporting is produced in accordance with best practice.
Responsibilities
The Finance Officer has operational responsibility the administration of the financial functions within the College. Reporting of monthly, bi-monthly and / or annual accounts to the Board of Directors is a critical to this role.
Working with the College Manager and the Board of Directors, the Finance Officer will ensure that the college is run in a financially sound manner and will support the management of the company’s financial planning and risk management by preparing and presenting monthly financial reports, cashflow, budgets, forecasts and analysis.
The Finance Officer is responsible for monitoring budgets on a monthly basis and reporting to the College Manager to address variances or issues arising.
The Finance Officer is responsible for liaising with ICPPD’s company accountants, auditors, banks revenue and other relevant organisations.
The Finance Officer is secretary to the Board of Directors.
Main Duties (this list is not exhaustive)
· Day-to-day bookkeeping and management of ICPPD cash and current accounts, including maintaining computerised accounts.
· Projections of income/expenditure
· Management of cashflow
· Managing credit control - accounts receivable.
· Managing debit control – accounts payable.
· Processing of learner fees and payment plans.
· Lodgments to the bank account
· Management of the College’s petty cash system.
· Administration of the payroll system and tax returns (including PAYE returns)
· Managing statutory sick pay, pensions and working form home payments in line with government regulations
· Administration of staff and directors’ expenses
· Management of payments for the college, general office requirements and facilities.
· Complete any other duties as requested by the College Manager or Board of Directors.
· Working in collaboration with other ICPPD staff to contribute to wider organisational goals.

Qualifications:
A recognised Accounting Qualification or relevant 3rd Level Qualification - Highly Desirable
Knowledge and Experience - Essential:
At least 3 years’ experience in a finance or bookkeeping role
Proficiency with accounting packages (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks)
Knowledge and experience of payroll processes and systems e.g. CollSoft
Experience making statutory Revenue returns – PAYE, PRSI
Experience of debit and credit control
Demonstrable experience in maintaining accurate financial records
Experience of preparing management accounts, budgets and cash flow reports
Skills & Abilities - Essential:
Excellent IT skills – Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and a willingness to embrace technology
Ability to present financial information clearly.
Experience liaising with auditors, banks, accountants, and Revenue.
Effective and proven communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral).
Excellent organisational skills including time management and the ability to prioritise.
The ability to work independently and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: €21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 per week
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Athlone, County Westmeath
