Primary objectives
To provide administrative support to the Finance and Members’ Entitlements unit (FAME), of the
Department of the Legislative Assembly (DLA), in the areas of purchasing, information communication
technology (ICT) and finance.
Context statement
The DLA provides quality and timely support and advice for the operation of the Assembly, its
committees, Parliament House, and electorate offices and staff.
FAME, which sits within the Corporate and Electorate Support Division, provides advice and budget,
financial and reporting management. It also manages travel and fleet services, prepares reports for
members on their use of entitlements, and asset tracking and reporting and purchasing services for the
department.
Key responsibilities
1. Provide administrative assistance to the FAME unit including monitoring the customer management
system, generic email, calendar management, secretariat support, managing incoming calls and
processing invoices and journals, and provide ad hoc administrative support to other areas of the
DLA during busy periods.
2. Record and maintain corporate information both physically and electronically in the Territory
Records Management (TRM) system.
3. Purchase goods and services for Members of the Legislative Assembly, electorate offices and the
department, including liaising with stakeholders to arrange deliveries and ensure orders are correct.
4. Update and maintain a series of registers to record inventory of office assets and organise
removals, destruction as required.
5. Support the administration of the department’s mobile and satellite phones
6. Manage the stationary supply room, ensuring adequate organisation and inventory levels are
maintained.
7. Provide administrative support for ICT equipment and user accounts.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge and previous experience with records management – both electronic and
manual.
2. Experience in an administration or corporate support role delivering a quality client service.
3. Computer proficiency skills and working knowledge of electronic systems, including Microsoft Word,
Outlook and Excel, or similar.
4. Strong organisational skills with proven ability to manage own workload with changing priorities and
competing deadlines.
5. Demonstrated ability to operate with strict confidentiality and apolitically
6. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
7. Proven ability to work in a team environment, contribute to the team’s effectiveness and work with
other teams and stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Experience with Northern Territory Government computer systems (or similar) including TRM and
finance related systems.
Requirements for selection and undertaking the role
1. Prior to being formally offered a position with the DLA, applicants will be required to submit a pre-
employment declaration which includes information regarding their criminal history, conflict of
interest and other continuing employment or volunteer work.
2. The successful applicant will be subject to a criminal history check. A criminal history will not
exclude an applicant from this position unless it is a relevant criminal history.
3. Access to recreation leave will be restricted during Parliamentary sitting periods.
4. The position is based at Parliament House, however, may be required to travel to Electorate Offices
across the Northern Territory.
5. The right to disconnect – This position is not expected to be available for regular work-related
contact outside of normal work hours.
