Financial Manager - Real Estate & Construction

Job Summary
Bridgestar Group is a private real estate development and asset management firm with active construction projects and a growing multifamily portfolio across Western Canada.

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead the operational finance function of the organization.

This role is execution-focused. The Controller will oversee financial reporting, cash management, lender compliance, and accounting operations across multiple entities. A fractional CFO provides strategic oversight; the Controller owns day-to-day financial leadership.

Duties

Financial Reporting

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

Cash Flow & Treasury

• Maintain rolling 12-month cash flow forecasts
• Monitor loan covenants and compliance (CMHC and conventional financing)
• Oversee construction draw tracking and funding schedules
• Manage intercompany cash movements and liquidity planning

Budgeting & Analysis

• Develop and maintain annual budgets
• Conduct variance analysis against budget and pro forma
• Provide financial reporting packages to ownership

Controls & Systems

• Implement and maintain internal controls
• Supervise accounting staff
• Improve reporting processes and documentation
• Optimize use of Yardi (or comparable ERP system)
• Prepare consolidated financial statements across entities
• Maintain reporting accuracy suitable for lender and audit review
• Coordinate with external accountants and auditors

Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in real estate, development, or multi-entity accounting required
• Familiarity with construction financing and lender reporting
• Strong systems and process orientation
• Ability to operate in a growing, entrepreneurial environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
