St. Petersburg Christian School is a private, Christ-centered school serving students in grades K–8. We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming campus that supports student learning and spiritual growth.
This is a full-time, 12-month position, working Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and reports directly to the Head of Maintenance.
Mission Alignment
In accordance with our religious-driven mission, candidates will be required to complete a statement of faith, outlining their personal testimony of their relationship and growth in Jesus Christ.

The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, and service-oriented, with a heart for supporting a Christian school environment. This role requires the ability to work both independently and on a team, respond to changing priorities, and consistently place student safety and well-being first.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or facilities-related work
- Ability to pass a national Level II background screening and drug test
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including:
- Florida heat and outdoor environments
- Confined or dark spaces (e.g., attics/crawlspaces)
- Loud or over-stimulating environments
- Working at heights (ladders and lifts)
- Lifting, carrying, and using tools and equipment
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Class B CDL within the first 3 months of employment (preferred)
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Facilities Support
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs in classrooms, offices, gymnasium, restrooms, and other common areas
- Assist with preventative maintenance schedules and follow work orders as assigned
- Troubleshoot issues and respond promptly to maintenance needs while prioritizing student safety
- Assist with emergency repairs and weather-related issues (e.g., leaks, power outages)
- Support basic grounds maintenance, including debris removal and playground safety
Janitorial Support
- Use cleaning agents and chemicals safely and responsibly
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and perform general cleaning duties
- Remove trash and maintain cleanliness of assigned areas
School & Event Support
- Assist with traffic flow of student arrival and dismissal
- Support faculty and staff during school events, room setups, and campus projects
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment as needed
- Manage routine tasks with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Assist during emergency situations
