Job Overview:
As a Junior Dispatcher, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth transportation and warehouse operations, focusing primarily on closing activities. Your responsibilities will include interacting with drivers upon their return to the warehouse, managing product returns, and resolving any operational issues. You will be required to utilize our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and WMS (Warehouse Management System) extensively to track deliveries, returns, and inventory, ensuring accurate and efficient operations. Your role is essential to maintaining the flow of logistics and ensuring that all processes run seamlessly. This candidate will report to the Transportation Supervisor(s).
Key Responsibilities:
- Driver Coordination: Meet drivers when they return to the warehouse, ensuring all products and equipment are unloaded, returned, and accounted for.
- Product Returns: Manage and process product returns using the ERP and WMS systems, ensuring all returns are properly documented and discrepancies are resolved.
- Issue Resolution: Address any issues or concerns raised by drivers and/or sales team regarding deliveries, product returns, pickups, and truck mechanics.
- Truck Shunting: Move and park trucks within the yard as needed.
- Inventory Management: Use the WMS system to assist with tracking inventory levels, ensuring that products are stored correctly and that stock discrepancies are minimized.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of product returns, issues, and deliveries in both the ERP and WMS systems.
- Customer Communication: Work closely with the Sales Team and Customer Service Team to ensure that customer expectations are met by addressing any concerns regarding delivery or product issues.
- Support to Dispatch Team: Assist with general dispatch duties during the shift as needed, including scheduling, route optimization, and dispatching drivers using the ERP and routing systems.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year of straight truck driving experience is required.
- Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, or customer service is required.
- Experience working with ERP and WMS systems is highly preferred.
- Experience with warehouse equipment is preferred. (reach trucks, forklifts etc.)
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of ELD (electronic logging devices) systems and regulations.
- Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems (previous experience is an asset).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
