General Labourer (Millwork Shop)

Job Overview

The General Labourer is responsible for supporting shop operations through material handling, heavy lifting, and general assistance in the production and delivery of millwork and cabinetry. This role primarily involves moving cabinets, panels, and materials safely and efficiently within the shop and during loading/unloading. The position requires physical strength, reliability, and adherence to safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Lift, carry, and move cabinets, panels, and millwork components (50–100+ lbs)
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks for deliveries and installations
• Transport materials within the shop between workstations
• Support cabinet makers, assemblers, and installers as needed
• Ensure materials are handled carefully to prevent damage
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Assist with packaging, wrapping, and preparing orders for shipment
• Follow all workplace health and safety regulations, including proper lifting techniques
• Operate basic equipment (e.g., dollies, carts, pallet jacks)
• Report any damages, safety hazards, or issues to management
• Assist with general shop duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements

• Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently (50–100+ lbs)
• Good physical stamina and strength
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
• Basic knowledge of safety practices in a shop environment
• Previous labour or warehouse experience is an asset

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
