About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to oversee and manage certain corporate functions in our mining facility in Gedu and Jigmeling, Bhutan. The ideal candidate will have a broad skillset across human resources, procurement, government relations, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and general business management, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the crypto mining industry in Bhutan.
The General Manager will be responsible for driving the company's corporate functions performance, ensuring compliance with local regulations, leading staff, and fostering relationships with government bodies, local communities, and other stakeholders. This role is critical to our long-term success and growth in Bhutan. This role reports to COO and dotted lines to respective corporate functions at Headquarters.
What you will be responsible for:
- Leadership & General Corporate Functions (CF) Management
- Lead and manage day-to-day CF operations of the mining facility, ensuring efficient performance and alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Oversee the planning, budgeting, and CF performance of the mining activities.
- Ensure continuous improvement of processes, technology, and productivity to meet industry standards and company objectives.
- Providing regular updates on people management, CF operations, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Human Resources (HR) Management
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, and retention strategy for the mining sites, ensuring that the company attracts and retains top talent.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skill set and safety awareness of employees.
- Foster a positive organisational culture by promoting employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion.
- Manage employee performance, addressing concerns, and implementing solutions to enhance team productivity.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and HR best practices.

Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Partner with Corporate Procurement on necessary negotiation with suppliers to secure cost-effective, timely and smooth deliveries of product/services at site. This includes administration related to customs and border clearance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers to ensure the smooth operation of mining activities.
- Develop and implement an efficient supply chain strategy to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.

Government Relations & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, and local authorities to ensure compliance with all local laws, regulations, and policies related to cryptocurrency mining and business operations.
- Advocate for favorable policies and regulations that benefit the industry and the company, while ensuring responsible business practices.
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations, ensuring the company is always in compliance with any evolving legal requirements.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
- Develop and implement CSR strategies that align with the company's values and objectives, contributing positively to local communities in Bhutan.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders and communities to identify opportunities for development, education, and environmental sustainability projects.
- Promote the company's environmental responsibility by supporting green initiatives and sustainable energy practices in the mining operations.

Financial & Budget Management
- Develop and manage the budget for CF functions at site to ensure costs are controlled effectively.

Strategic Planning & Business Development
- Collaborate with the leadership team to define long-term strategies for business growth, including expansion, new partnerships, and technological advancements.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and mining market conditions in Bhutan.
- Identify new business opportunities for growth and improvement for the Company in Bhutan.

Administration & Office Management
- Oversee general administration functions, including office management, documentation, and administrative support for various departments.
- Ensure that all company records, licenses, and legal documents are organised, up-to-date, and compliant with regulations.
- Implement effective internal communication systems to facilitate smooth coordination between departments.
- Manage administrative staff and support their professional development to enhance team efficiency.
- Ensure the office environment is well-maintained and conducive to employee productivity and well-being.
How you will stand out:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Mining, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the crypto mining sector or government agencies.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of crypto mining operations, hardware, software, and energy consumption optimisation.
- HR Expertise: Proven experience in human resources management, including recruitment, performance management, and labor law compliance.
- Government Relations: Familiarity with Bhutan's regulatory environment, especially in relation to energy, cryptocurrency, and technology industries.
- CSR Experience: Background in developing and implementing CSR initiatives that promote sustainability and community engagement.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage teams, build partnerships, and drive organizational success.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle complex challenges, think strategically, and make decisions that align with company goals.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes be exposed to heat, noise, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The exposure will not be constant but could occupy a large amount of a person's time during the day while on-site. Safety & Noise reduction equipment will be provided by the company. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The role allows working remotely flexibly where necessary.
