General Operative

Job Summary:

As a General Operative in Goatsbridge Fish processors, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of manual handling and production tasks to ensure the efficient and hygienic processing, packing, and dispatch of Trout and Salmon products. This role is essential to maintaining production targets, quality standards, and food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle, clean, fillet, portion, or pack fresh and frozen fish products according to production specifications.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (after training).
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment by following strict food safety and hygiene protocols.
• Sort and inspect fish products for quality, removing bones, scales, or defects as needed.
• Weigh and label products accurately.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with loading/unloading deliveries or stock as required.
• Complete production records or quality checks when instructed.
• Work as part of a team to meet production deadlines and targets.
• Perform other general factory duties as assigned by supervisors or team leaders.

Requirements:

• Ability to work in a cold, wet environment (PPE provided).
• Physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 5-7kg
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings from 7am.
• Previous experience in food production or fish processing is an advantage but not essential – full training provided.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Understanding of basic food hygiene and safety practices (training will be provided if necessary).
• Reliable, punctual, and a team player.

Desirable Qualifications:

• HACCP or Food Safety Level 1/2 certification.
• Forklift or pallet truck licence (if applicable).

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment (cold and humid).
• PPE (protective clothing, gloves, boots, etc.) must be worn at all times.
• May involve shift work, overtime, or weekend hours, depending on production demands.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From €14.15 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
