This role supports global marketing activities by leading the Marketing/Commercial Excellence throughout the Global Product Development Process (GPDS). They collect and translate customer insights into product requirements, develop and implement product readiness and marketing plans, and identify marketing opportunities to maintain a competitive position. They also collaborate with Marketing Communications & Operations on promotional and communication programs. Additionally, they elevate strategic thinking, define growth strategies, and execute effectively in a dynamic marketplace.
The role is responsible for marketing deliverables in the early stages of development, launch, and product life cycle management. They will support line extensions and other assigned projects. They will also actively engage in peer reviews of marketing deliverables and represent the Marketing function as a core team member on program core team(s).
The candidate collaborates with various teams including Marketing associates, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Medical, and R&D. They are encouraged to develop and mentor junior team members, taking a leadership role in training and establishing product management standards.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the total customer experience including, the strategic and financial performance of their product portfolio. Supports annual planning process to define and communicate global strategic, product development and operational direction for the product solution, and influences multifunctional resources to accomplish business objectives.
Defines and drives execution of the marketing strategy, product roadmap (including lifecycle management) and priorities for responsible product offering. Develops annual and long-term product roadmaps, marketing plans and launch planning in conjunction and consultation with cross-functional teams to create robust new product pipeline that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Directs all aspects of the global portfolio positioning, pricing, and brand strategies as well as inventory levels to achieve regional sales.
Tasked with working alongside global and regional marketing colleagues to devise and implement regional strategies, ensuring financial targets are met. This involves scientific content, competitor reactions, tradeshows, campaign tactics, digital channels, and supporting sales efforts.
Effectively communicates the value proposition of the products to the sales team and develops sales tools that support the selling process. It is crucial to have the ability to understand and translate technical capabilities into benefits to drive success in this role.
Develops expertise on customer buying criteria; market segmentation, competition to **build** strategies to win in the market.
Establishes and maintains a strong competitive position through strategic and tactical identification of marketing opportunities.
Actively seeks new ways to bring to bear BDB's Instrument and SW portfolio of products and services to build solution-based offerings.
Can generate new ideas for developing and launching products and technologies, while considering customer perspectives throughout the process.
Actively supports our journey towards becoming a marketing led organization by collaborating closely with development teams to gather customer feedback, develop business strategies, and optimize current offerings while influencing the development of next generation products.
Meets all marketing work-stream deliverables as required in BD Global Product Development Process.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a Life Sciences field, or equivalent. MBA and/or Master’s degree highly preferred.
Must have at least 7 years strategic marketing, product management, or equivalent relevant experience. Preferably in life sciences industry
Specific understanding and/or experience with flow cytometry is highly preferred.
Seeking a driven and customer focused leader who excels in a fast-paced and evolving setting. Builds strong connections and fosters engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Strong personal efficiency with the ability to work efficiently within and ability to lead a project team and the cross-functional organization.
Experience working in and/or leading teams in cross-functional environments and/or complex matrix organizations
Extensive experience in various fields, such as brand management and/or product development, with a focus on practical application in the market.
Showcased critical thinking and implementation abilities; demonstrated analytical skills with the capability to convert data into practical strategies.
Effective skills in areas of interpersonal, oral and written communication, organization, prioritization and planning, goal setting, analytical and problem solving.
Capable of effectively managing and driving the completion of multiple competing projects with a focus on achieving desired outcomes.
Requires the ability to develop compelling arguments with detailed financial analysis.
Experience presenting to senior level leadership is required.
Previous experience with digital marketing, web and eCommerce preferred.
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time (domestic & international).
Experience in identifying market opportunities, market segmentation, competitive analysis, forecasting, pricing strategy, market development and go to market models and strategies.
Requires a general knowledge of the Life Sciences market as well as the sales, operations, and marketing functions. Scientific and technical knowledge with the ability to develop and review technical product specifications and applications development plans.
