SmartRoutes is a route planning & optimization platform that has developed leading edge technology for the rapidly expanding last mile logistics sector.

Based in the middle of Cork City, we have experienced rapid growth over the past 4 years and are now searching for a Graduate Software Developer to join our growing team and help build the next evolution of our software product.

About the Role:

We're hiring for a Graduate Software Developer on our product team at SmartRoutes.

Responsibilities:

• Continued development and maintenance of our backend software stack to support our client applications and integrations.
• Working closely with the Tech. Lead to build out resilient, performant APIs to support our new features.
• Supporting frontend and mobile developers add and improve features to the platform

What we are looking for:

• A Computer Science degree or similar education.
• Experience working with server-side technologies, preferably NodeJS.
• Comfortable with ES6, Typescript and the wider Javascript Ecosystem.
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL) and comfortable working with SQL
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Django, Laravel, Ruby on Rails or Spring.
• Have a good understanding of RESTful technologies and API development.
• Familiar with software design patterns and data-structures.
• Ability to design with modern internet infrastructure operation in mind, including metrics, logging, automation, etc
• Familiarity with 12 factor apps.
• Comfortable with using development & debugging tools.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience with application development technologies and patterns including Git, Trello, Confluence.

Useful Skills:

• Unix and networking knowledge.
• SaaS development experience.
• AWS or other cloud-based experience.
• Java / PHP / Python
• Unit & performance testing.
