We prioritize sourcing locally whenever possible supporting regional farmers and producers. The café portion of Gordon’s will provide a variety of pre-made and fresh food options with a full espresso bar that will also be licensed to sell alcohol. With a commitment to quality and community, we strive to create a welcoming space where people can come together to enjoy delicious food & beverages and great conversation.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking motivated and customer service focused Grocery Clerks to join Gordon’s. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that our customers have a positive shopping experience by providing friendly and efficient service. You will be checking customers out, assisting with bagging groceries, greeting and answering customer questions and restocking shelves.

Grocery Clerk Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, locating products, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction to foster customer loyalty.
• Operate cash registers accurately and efficiently, processing transactions, handling cash, and providing change to customers.
• Bag groceries carefully and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area, including removing debris, sanitizing surfaces, and replenishing bags.
• Stock shelves and maintain displays throughout the store to ensure a well-stocked and attractive shopping environment.
• Assist with receiving shipments, verifying merchandise, and storing products in designated areas.
• Prepare customer orders as required.
• Follow all food safety protocols, health and safety requirements, cash handling, initiatives, cleanliness guidelines and all other company policies and procedures.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities including cross training with café department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred.
• Strong communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Basic math skills and proficiency to operate cash registers or point-of-sale systems.
• An interest/experience with social media is an asset.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid Smart Serve is required.
