About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to apply for the position of Archives Assistant at the Guinness Archive.
You will be a graduate or about to graduate and interested in pursuing a career in archives and intending to continue your studies on one of the post-graduate archive/records management courses. The position will run for one year leading up to the start of the 2025/26 Academic year.
The nature of the work will be varied, involving cataloguing, answering enquiries, promotion of the service, digitisation and cataloguing analogue and digital records. The Guinness Archive collection dates back to 1759 and encompasses all areas of the global business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their archives skills in a supportive environment. Full training will be given in all aspects of the role.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Preferably educated to Masters degree in a related discipline
- Attention to detail is a key quality
- A proven track record in research
- IT proficient including digital technology
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own
- Display evidence of pursuing a professional career in Archives
- Display strong communication and people skills
- A commitment to completing the 12 month internship
- Knowledge/interest in Guinness or a similar corporate organisation
