Job Title: Healthcare Assistant

Renumeration: €30,000 – 32,000 p.a.
Hours: 39 hours per week
Description:
- To be part of the primary healthcare team providing high-quality and forward-thinking nursing care to meet the holistic healthcare needs of the residents. The role of the care assistant is to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of
- patient care, under the supervision of the CNM and SN.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bath, shower, dress and undress patients.
- Assist with the care of unconscious and incontinent patients, including ones confined to bed.
- Assist in toileting of patients, including hygiene needs after toileting, and any other personal hygiene needs.
- Recording and measuring bowel function, urinary output, including collection of urine and faecal specimens.
- To ensure the dignity of the residents is maintained at all times.
- Transfer patients from bed to chair / wheelchair and vice versa.
- Assist patients with walking and limb exercises as directed and encourage.
- Observe any skin disorders and report to staff nurse.
- Follow compliance with the use of the hoist.
- Follow all manual handling instructions.
- Give help and support to patients during meal times, and feed incapacitated patients as directed, following their dietary needs and any supplements and / or medicine as instructed.
- Record food and fluid intake.
- Be familiar and comply with Santa Sabina House policies in relation to Health and Safety, Fire safety, complaints procedures Infection control and waste disposal.
- Report all incidents and accidents involving self, patients or visitors to the CNM1 or the DON.
- Assist with emergency first aid as directed.
- Attend in- service Training as required.
- Maintaining a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility.

- Working together: display a positive, helpful and caring attitude.
- Quality: Resident satisfaction must be the forefront of the Carer’s concern.
- Ability to work with physical demands.
Requirements:
- 2+ Years’ experience as a healthcare assistant or a similar role.
- Qualified Fetac Level 5, including Patient Moving and Handling Training, and Infection Prevention and Control, or working towards it.
- Knowledge of practice standards and protocols as laid down by HIQA.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: €30,000.00-€32,000.00 per year
Experience:
- Healthcare: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Level 5 in healthcare support (preferred)
- Driving Licence (preferred)
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare (preferred)
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred)
