Housekeeping Attendant Or Cleaners

As a Service Attendant/Housekeeping or Cleaner at our Fitness Club, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members and staff. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing gym equipment, locker rooms, fitness areas, and administrative spaces to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall member experience by providing a spotless and well-maintained environment.

Duties and Responsibilities1. Cleaning and Sanitizing

  • Fitness Areas: Clean and disinfect gym equipment, including treadmills, weights, and machines, ensuring all surfaces are free of dust and grime. Regularly check and replenish cleaning supplies in these areas.
  • Locker Rooms: Maintain cleanliness in locker rooms, including showers, toilets, sinks, and lockers. Ensure all surfaces are sanitized and stocked with necessary supplies such as paper towels and soap.
  • Administrative and Public Areas: Clean and maintain public spaces such as the reception area, hallways, and staff offices. This includes dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, and ensuring a tidy appearance throughout the club.

2. Inventory Management

  • Supplies: Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that stock levels are adequate and reporting any shortages or needs for restocking.
  • Equipment: Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and steam cleaners, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly serviced.

3. Safety and Compliance

  • Standards: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Protocols: Follow established protocols for cleaning and sanitation to maintain a hygienic environment and reduce the risk of infections and injuries.

4. Member Interaction

  • Requests: Respond to member requests for additional supplies or assistance with a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Feedback: Address any member concerns related to cleanliness or facility maintenance and report significant issues to management.

5. Record Keeping

  • Logs: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, including daily checklists and any maintenance or repair issues that arise.
  • Reports: Communicate with management about any problems or hazards encountered during cleaning, such as broken equipment or facility damage.

6. Team Collaboration

  • Coordination: Work collaboratively with other service attendants, housekeeping staff, and fitness club personnel to ensure efficient operations and effective communication.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices, cleaning techniques, and club policies.

7. Special Duties

  • Deep Cleaning: Perform as needed, such as carpet cleaning, high dusting, and extensive equipment sanitation.
  • Event Support: Assist with setting up and cleaning up after special events or fitness classes as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or a similar role is beneficial but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow cleaning protocols and instructions, good time management, and basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Work Environment

Service Attendants/Housekeeping or Cleaners at a Fitness Club work in various areas of the facility, including workout areas, locker rooms, and administrative spaces. The role may involve working early mornings, late evenings, or weekends to ensure cleanliness during all operating hours.
