About the Role:
MPK is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support the infrastructure team on a 14:7 roster in the Surat Basin, QLD. Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Advisor is accountable for applying and carrying out the requirements of the Project Safety Management Plan in the context of work activities and tasks. The HSE Advisor also supports activities to ensure the currency of the Project Safety Management Plan and related risk register/s, along with the associated documents. The successful candidate will be responsible for
- Assisting with ensuring that OHS goals and objectives are understood, widely communicated, monitored and measured.
- Ensuring the maintenance of a contemporary understanding of OHS issues and professional practice by remaining aware of developments in the OHS legislation.
- Maintaining a library of resource material related to safety management that is available to staff and employees.
- Supporting the active management of subcontractors in the field.
- Supporting field activities and supervision in providing advice in safety matters and checking the application of risk controls in operation.
- Supporting activities to manage the volume, quality and timeliness of actions generated from audits, hazard reports and incident investigations.
- Coordinating and manage HSET reporting requirements in accordance with the requirements of INX and Project time frames.
- Understanding Project compliance in accordance with MPC Kinetic (MPK) IMS requirements.
- Managing specific environmental requirements in accordance with Environmental Authorities.
- Participate in all field leadership activities and regularly contribute to pre-shift meetings and toolbox talks.
- Mentoring and guide others in the application of the Safety Management System in the field.
- Conducting investigations utilising company methods and processes, and provide information on incidents via reports and presentations.
- Carrying out and apply Risk Management practices in accordance with MPK requirements.
- Providing scheduled and ad hoc reports on HSE performance and trends.
Skills and Experiences:
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have 3+ years health and safety and/or relevant industry experience in a similar position. Exceptional written and verbal communication is necessary, partnered with strong problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent stakeholder management will see you excel in this position. You must be able to work well as part of a team and autonomously.
The required qualifications include:
- Degree / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Incident Investigation Training.
- Diploma or Certificate of Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE (40110)
- Lead Auditor OHS Management Systems (Desirable or willing to obtain)
- Workplace First Aid / CPR
- Current State/Territory Driver’s License – Class C
- Certification in a recognized Drug and Alcohol testing program
- ICAM or Taproot investigation training
