- Receives patients and visitors. Retrieves patient information form computer, provides patient room number, issues visitor pass and directs visitors to appropriate locations. Follows established procedures if visiting restrictions are noted.
Provides general information to visitors or telephone inquiries such as visiting hours, number of visitors per patient and hospital services; route calls, pages or takes message for physicians.
Receives, gives directions to, assists and routes hospital visitors and patients to appropriate location.
Maintains visitor pass file according to established procedure to accurately reflect availability of passes for each patient room; maintaining an adequate supply of visitor passes, replacing those that are missing or soiled.
Inputs visiting restrictions into on-line computer as requested by nursing, security or patients.
Arranges transportation for patients as requested by contacting taxi service, patient’s home, nursing home, etc. Arrange for transportation to hospital departments as needed (i.e. Labor and Delivery patients).
Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treats others with care and respect maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills Required
Interpersonal and communication skills to greet, assist, provide information to and direct all hospital visitors in a manner that conveys a positive image of the hospital.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate an on-line computer and file visitor passes.

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation
