If this sounds like it fits you, we would love to hear from you! NAPA Auto Parts, a division of Genuine Parts Company, with company headquarters based in Atlanta, GA operation. In this unique Internship experience, you will be exposed to multiple aspects of our business: Retail Stores, Sales, Operations/Distribution Centers, Wholesale, and Integrated Business Solutions. This is a tremendous leadership-focused learning opportunity to have exposure and truly be immersed into our business.

Responsibilities

  • By the end of this internship, you will be able to:
  • Understand the workflow of the NAPA operation at the Distribution Center(DC) and Store level
  • Apply Leadership skills learned to better operational effectiveness of employees through engagement
  • Identify and explain the business needs of the Store, DC and Sales groups
  • Exposure to our Integrated Business Solutions division and the power of our partnerships
  • The Program:9 week internship (360 hours). This Internship begins early June 2017 and ends early August 2017. 40 hours per week
  • Each week different part of the business Retail Stores (3 weeks)
  • Sales (1 week)
  • Distribution Center Operations (3 weeks)
  • Wholesale (1 week)
  • IBS (1 week)

What you will learn: Store: How sales goals and inventory needs are determined

  • Product placement/location on shelves in rear of store
  • Building customer satisfaction during delivery
  • Automotive Part Sales/Retail/TAMS
  • Merchandising/Planogramming
  • Product face-outs and stocking retail
  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Loading/unloading delivery
  • Pulling product for delivery
  • How to look up parts
  • Scheduling
  • Safety
  • Sales: Market development, expose opportunities for brand penetration
  • Account development, expose opportunities for increasing product offering to current customers
  • Perform sales blitz.
  • Attend customer appreciation events
  • Distribution Center: Stocking
  • Pulling
  • Dock
  • Inventory
  • Classification
  • Wholesale: National account relationships
  • Perform store change over
  • Perform store resets
  • Integrated Business Solutions (IBS): Automotive part sales
  • Perform external product procurement
  • Perform buyout purchase orders
  • Reconcile purchase orders
  • Maintain obsolete inventory
  • Identify future inventory needs through vehicle service interval analysis

You will become extremely knowledgeable in all of the above aspects of our business, exposure to the NAPA leadership team, along with a structured program and support of a coach. This experience could serve as the building blocks to join the Executive Management Trainee Program after graduation.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in STEM or Business fields 3.25GPA
  • Results-oriented, forward-thinking, confident undergraduates and graduates Effective written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills Strong research, analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently
