We have a full-time position for an Intern, IT Business Analyst in Calgary, AB. This is a full-time temporary contract for 6 months (full-time), starting in July 2024. It can either be to support a co-op term of a current post-secondary student graduating in 2025, or a new graduate looking for experience in their field. There is a possibility of the role becoming permanent in the future for the right candidate.


Under the direction and guidance of the IT Business Relationship Manager, this role works collaboratively with users to capture current and future state requirements to understand gaps and opportunities in IT system functionality and processes to enable the best use of technology and tools. In addition, they will play a part in ensuring there is consistency in policies, procedures, standards and processes across IT applications and processes. The team consists of Business and Training Analysts and supports our end user experience by ensuring our systems and reports meet the needs of our business.


The Intern, IT Business Analyst will proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements, business requirements, use cases, and user stories, and UAT test cases with the support of the IT Business Relationship Manager.


The ideal candidate will have an analytical and process-based approach to tacking projects with excellent communication and analytical skills. They will have a knack for logically and intuitively understanding the end-users needs, breaking down complex processes into understandable information and requirements, while identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. They will be effective in building relationships across the organization, at all levels, and have strong change management skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaboration with technical teams
    • Create process design documents in Visio
    • Create user stories, UAT test cases/scripts and facilitate UAT in support of system deployment
    • Gather and present requirements to development team to provide specifications for developing solutions
    • Support the creation of User Stories and Test Cases
    • Support the planning and scheduling of User Acceptance Testing and Training
    • Support discovery/business requirements sessions
    • Maintain and analyze reports on end user Training
    • Prepare, maintain, and update reports and other business documentation as required.
    • Ensure documentation is updated
    • Pro-actively identify and communicate issues/tasks and follow-through, a self-starter
    • Support ongoing updates to and creation of training materials
    • Consult with peers on support issues
    • Be a champion for IT Services
    • Assist in managing change
    • Assist in establishing metrics and success criteria including risk and cost benefit analysis
    • Continuously seek for ways to improve/ streamline the way we work and how we service our customers and stakeholders
    • Act as a liaison between all teams to support them in jointly resolving incidents

Qualifications

  • A current student set to graduate in 2025, or a recent graduate from a post-secondary institution in a technology related program
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to effectively communicate updates and progression on design and development to business clients and scrum teams
  • Knowledge of process and dependency documentation and creation
  • Experience with O365 including Visio and Power Point
  • Communication and change management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
