What you’ll be doing The successful candidate would provide day-to-day support to the Prints Department in London, supporting the Sale Coordinator, Specialists and Head of Sale with general every-day and administrative tasks, in addition to preparation of cataloguing, hilling and research. What your day might look like
- Assist the Sale Coordinator with general sale administration, for Modern, Contemporary and Old Master Prints sales.
- Assist with image editing, photography and proofing, where appropriate
- Prepare factsheets, images and lot cards for all sale lots, including works in touring exhibitions
- Assist senior team members in researching property for sale
- Conduct in-depth research on works which will be offered in the upcoming sales, sometimes involving off-site visits to external libraries in London (British Library, National Art Library and Tate Library)
- Write catalogue entries, where appropriate
- In partnership with the Sale Coordinator, assist the Copyright Coordinator with sourcing comparative images for the catalogue
- Respond to image and factsheet requests, assist specialist team and client requests during sale week
- Maintain library so it remains organised/re-shelving any books that are left out at the end of each day
- Liaison with internal departments
- Responsible for collecting and distributing post, arranging couriers, sending out catalogues
- Maintain stock of stationery supplies in the Department
- Liaise with IT to resolve any issues with office equipment, maintain printers and paper stock
- Other tasks as assigned by manager
- Minimum of BA degree or equivalent (or higher) in History of Art or similar
- Interest/knowledge of Prints, preferably Old Master Prints, required
- Language skills (fluent in English and one other European language)
- Strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication
- Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
- Good research and writing skills, experience with Research Libraries is desirable
- Good team worker and willingness to help out when needed
- Hard working
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to demonstrate client facing experience
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (mainly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to learn Christie’s systems including Canvas, JDE, intranet and website
- 25 days annual leave + 1 day Birthday leave
