Internship and Data Coordinator
Job Summary:
Reporting jointly to the Senior Director of Career Services, the Director of Employer Relations and the Vice Provost for Student Success, Inclusive Excellence, and Curricular Innovation the Internship and Data Coordinator serves as part of the team to fulfill CSC's mission to assist students and alumni in matters related to developing, evaluating and effectively implementing their career plans. The Coordinator acts as a centerpoint for internship coordination and information for all faculty and staff except for The School of Law and The Graduate School of Management. The Coordinator will also co-manage collection of first-destination data, except for The Graduate School of Management and The School of Law, with the Senior Director.
As a member of the larger staff in Student Life and Academic Affairs, the Coordinator collaborates and cooperates across divisions and departments to create a supportive University community which encourages student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition. The mission of Student Life is to fully support holistic student development within a social justice framework centered in preparing students to be caring, socially responsible citizens in our global and local community.
Full Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Internship Coordination (70%):
- Create inventory of all undergraduate departments' internship initiatives or lack thereof, assessing gaps and opportunities
- Meet annually or bi-annually with the heads/coordinators of each internship initiative
- Act as centralized information resource for faculty and staff regarding internship guidelines, rules and regulations
- Serve as an advisor as to what types of internships are realistic for certain programs
- Support the cohort of horizon vision scholars in discovering and preparing for internship opportunities
- Coordinate best practices and resources for departmental internship "in-class" curriculum and materials
- Establish best practices and guidelines utilizing already successful internship programs (ie International Studies)
- Produce an internship focused on-campus or virtual recruiting event
- Combine employer outreach with Handshake mining to create customized lists of internships for students in different internship classes/programs to apply to
- Manage the Changemakers Internship Stipend Program
- Serve as the primary contact for all employers interested in offering internships for academic credit
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA) on data collection and analysis of alumni data from multiple sources
Data Coordination (30%):
- Co-manage collection of first-destination data for undergraduate new alumni
- Oversee the creative side and the logistics of marketing USF outcomes (along with Strategic Enrollment Management and OMC) to prospective students, current students, faculty, staff and the greater community
- Manage on-site first-destination data collection at Winter and Spring Grad Finale events
- Coordinate student interns who are conducting summer "LinkedIn scrapes" to complete first-destination data sets
- Tailor and analyze new and existing questions on first-destination surveys to better understand the effectiveness of internships as a part of the student/professional experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in student affairs, education, counseling or related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is preferred; minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible work in academic or HR setting. Demonstrated effectiveness in working collaboratively with faculty and staff. Strong communication, organization, and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) skills. Expert knowledge of current assessment and evaluation practices in higher education. Demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies. Clear understanding of USF's Vision, Mission, and Values statement and a demonstrated interest in, and a commitment to, the mission of a Jesuit institution
