Introduction

Shimano is looking for an intern to join our product team. Our team’s purpose is to design, prototype, test, modify, improve, and fine-tune those elements on a sports bicycle that enables new achievements. The best products and services are always created in a continuous cycle of ideas, input and feedback from riders, designers, and engineers. Based on this collective intelligence, we push our products to - and often beyond - their limits. So, riders can do the same on the world’s roads, trails, mountains, and tracks.

In this position we are looking for a creative (mechanical) engineer who is looking for a place to complete an internship. Being an occasional rider or a committed cyclist is preferred. Our team is young and ambitious and in addition to the hard work we like to organize occasional social spins. Do you feel confident working in a team but are you also able to work individually, do you like to work in an international environment for the global market with affinity to cycling, then you need to reply!

The job requires you to design in Solid Works 3D with basic knowledge of simulation tools and surface modelling.

The Challenge

Support the initiation of new product development/ design ideas from researching markets and technologies, colleague & customer feedback, and QC records.

Support the planning and execution of the development and design of new products, including drawing, modelling, and testing.

Collaborate with other departments to gain broader perspectives and to support technical information on products.

Collate market insights and research findings into product proposals, specifications, and designs.

What are we looking for?

You are studying at a university to complete a bachelor’s or master’s study in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering or Product Design.

Knowledge about 3D printing with FormLabs and Ultimaker printers is preferred.

Experience working in SolidWorks PDM is a plus.

You are a team player who can also work individually if required.

You have strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Proactive with the self-starter attitude.

A passion for cycling we recognize as an advantage.
Internship duration 6 months.
