It Finance Supervisor

The Financial Supervisor will be responsible for managinging the financial activities of the IT health organization. Responsibilities include developing annual budgets, monitoring and reporting monthly financial results, and supporting month-end close activities. The Supervisor works with IT leadership to align daily operations to financial targets and identifies opportunities for efficiency. Other duties include training and developing staff members while also encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement; ensuring compliance with department and university policies; and supporting key project initiatives in order to expand capabilties in the healthcare space.

The Finance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of an organization. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders. The Finance Supervisor will collaborate with various departments to develop and implement financial strategies, monitor financial performance, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $94,400 - $201,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF IT is responsible for managing and supporting the technology infrastructure and services that enable the university’s health, research and education missions. Within UCSF IT, the IT Finance team is responsible for managing the financial resources of UCSF IT, which has grown to approximately 900 FTE and $300M in annual spend. The IT Finance team partners with IT leaders, central Finance and other departments to ensure UCSF’s financial goals are met by providing financial reporting, planning and analysis services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 5-7 years of applicable experience in the field
  • 2-5 years’ experience as supervisor and/or team lead
  • Thorough knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems.
  • Interpersonal skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Ability to adapt to the fast-paced working environment and resilient to changing priorities, managing staff time and efforts accordingly.
