"Kotahi ano te kaupapa: Ko te oranga o te iwi."
There is only one purpose to our work: The wellness and wellbeing of people.
Te Ara Poutama Aotearoa, the Department of Corrections, is going through a transformational change, and we're looking for committed people to be part of our future.
A new 500-bed facility, with an additional 100-beds in Hikitia, a dedicated mental health and addiction service, is currently under construction at Waikeria Prison.
The new development is another a step forward to realising our organisational strategy Hokai Rangi. It represents a significant investment in strengthening mental health services and providing more rehabilitation, education and training space and opportunities for people in prison.
The new facility will feature more spaces for whaanau interaction than seen in any of our prisons to date.
Join us at our upcoming Kai & Korero Evening and discover more about our mahi, and the various roles we are recruiting for at Waikeria Prison and in the community. Our team will be available on the night to give you more information about what a career at Waikeria and Ara Poutama Aotearoa might be like, answer any questions you have and walk you through our recruitment process. You'll have an opportunity to meet new people, get more info and start your application.
