Kennel Technician/ Handler

All Creature’s Inn is a local animal kennel that has been serving the community for multiple years. We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate people to join our team as Kennel Technicians/ Handlers. You will help play a vital role in ensuring the well-being, happiness and safety of all our furry guests.

We are committed to having all animals in our care have a safe and sanitary environment to stay in. This means daily cleaning of kennels and play yards of any urine and feces in order to maintain our standards. Good observation and communication skills are a must in order to properly monitor/identify all animal behaviors and prevent any potential issues between any animals.

This job has high physical demands, both inside and outside the main kennel area. A typical day requires each person to walk or stand for long periods on concrete and gravel, lift about 40 lbs, work in running water for several hours, scrubbing of multiple kennels walls with cleaning brushes, working with customers in person and on phone, conducting phones calls, computer work using our on-line system and maintaining paperwork.

Previous animal boarding/kennel experience is a must. Please tell us what professional experience you have with dogs and cats when applying.

Pay Range: Starting at $11.00 (Pay based on professional experience)

Working hours: Morning Shift: 6:30am - 1pm & Afternoon shift: 1pm - 6pm

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Provide daily care for all animals in our facility – follow directions for amounts of food, medication (if required), fresh water and clean bedding.
• Daily cleaning of animal feces, urination and possible vomit several times during a shift – all kennels, cat condos and play yards.
• Monitor all behavior and health conditions – report any changes to appropriate staff member.
• Documentation of all animals in our care – eating habits, medications and elimination habits.
• Supervise activities of multiple dogs in a play yard – monitor behavior for potential conflicts, de-escalate situations and engage in play activities.
• Follow all safety protocols and special notes for animals within facility – dog aggression, escape artists, toy possessive, separate to feed, etc.
• Able to work a dishwasher, washer/dryer and vacuum – daily use
• Follow all cleaning protocols to ensure a sanitary and healthy environment – all kennels, cat condos, main lobby, areas within the facility.
• Ability to multi-task with variety of business needs - daily cleaning tasks, computer work, phone usage, etc.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Passion for animals and a strong commitment to their well-being and welfare.
• Previous experience in a professional animal care setting (kennel, animal shelter, or pet daycare)
• Knowledge of animal behavior, basic care, and handling techniques.
• Must be able to physically work with and handle animals – various sizes (5-100+ lbs), temperaments, and breeds
• Good observational skills – monitoring animal care and health
• Must be able to work in outside conditions (year-round) – sometimes extreme weather and temperatures.
• Must be able to work in conditions that require consistent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling – able to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Team player with good communication skills – interact with other team members, customers, management and other businesses.
• Reliable, punctual and dependable.
• Able to take directions well and apply it independently.

• Have a flexible schedule to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the business flow.
