Landscape Lighting - Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Field Operations Manager holds a dual operational and sales-focused leadership role dedicated to driving revenue growth and ensuring operational excellence in premium residential and commercial outdoor lighting. This position completely owns the client lifecycle from the moment a call center intake populates the CRM task board through same-day engagement, design, estimation, material logistics, installation oversight, and final evening quality verification.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Sales Funnel & Design Management

  • CRM & Pipeline Ownership: Actively monitor the incoming CRM task board to ensure all new inquiries from the call center receive a guaranteed, same-day design callback to qualify the project and schedule a consultation.
  • On-Site Consultations: Conduct daytime site visits to take property photos, measure distances, evaluate electrical access, and establish a visual design strategy.
  • Proposal Development: Draft and deliver comprehensive digital proposals featuring tiered estimates, daytime property photos, and night mock-up imagery to secure formal client acceptance.
  • Night Demonstrations: Participate in and support evening lighting demonstrations with clients as needed to showcase live visual effects and finalize project scopes.

Field Leadership & Staff Development

  • Direct Supervision: Oversee all field team members, managing scheduling, availability, operational concerns, and daily logistics.
  • Performance Management: Lead the recruitment, orientation, training, and ongoing professional development of direct reports.
  • Accountability & Culture: Foster a professional, accountable work environment that rewards high performance; leverage CRM metrics to track job durations, upsell rates, and minimize rework.
  • Training: Identify skill gaps and prepare targeted training materials for weekly professional development meetings.

Logistics, Procurement & Asset Management

  • Inventory & Material Control: Review accepted digital proposals and manage procurement spreadsheets to order fixtures, wire spools, and transformers, ensuring zero project delays due to stock shortages.
  • Kitting & Staging: Oversee the material picking process to ensure installation technicians accurately stage the correct brass fixtures and gear for daily jobs.
  • Fleet & Tool Maintenance: Enforce safety and cleanliness standards for all company vehicles and equipment (trenchers, electrical testers, hand tools). Maintain weekly checks on fluid levels, tire wear, and physical damage.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all VA811 dig tickets are successfully submitted and approved prior to the start of any physical installation.

Quality Assurance & System Hand-off

  • Project Oversight: Ensure all residential lighting systems are completed on time, within budget, and to company standards of excellence.
  • Evening Adjustments: Join clients for post-installation evening walkthroughs at dusk to inspect fixture aims, evaluate light levels, adjust shroud angles, and eliminate glare for a flawless final handoff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Leadership & Management: Strong capability in staffing, performance management, team building, and enforcing operational accountability.

Logistical Aptitude: Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage inventory and fleet assets under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills tailored for seamless technical collaboration with crews and professional, high-end interactions with clientele.

Compliance: Ability to safely operate company vehicles and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing for insurance purposes.

Project Performance: Maintain a monthly punch-list rate below 5% while ensuring 100% customer satisfaction on completed installations.

Quality Control: Maintain an internal project rework rate below 5% and protect the company brand by ensuring zero online customer reviews fall below 4 stars.

Financial Guardrails: Manage field technician labor costs strictly and maintain a strict material cost margins.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
