We have an opportunity for you! We are looking for two Large Animal Veterinary Technician team members to join our Riverside clinic on this adventure into our bigger, brighter, and better future.
Located in Ashburton, you will be joining a rural mixed practice with great team morale that is focused on delivering exceptional veterinary services to the town and surrounding areas, and values the essential role that highly skilled technicians play within our business.
The following 2x full-time permanent opportunities are available:
Role A) 1x Veterinary Technician with a minimum of 2 years working experience in a vet tech role.
Role B) 1x Veterinary Technician fully qualified with a New Zealand Diploma in Rural Animal Veterinary Technology (Level 6), no working vet tech experience required.
About the Roles:
Having the ability to make the role your own, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling your own day-to-day work ensuring a high level of client support is provided. Whether driving to clients on farms and delivering services to production animals, carrying out administrative work in the office, or supporting the large animal vets, you will need to have an ever growing on-farm and in-clinic skillset, with a curiosity and growth mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collection and interpretation of diagnostic samplings.
- Work wih animal technology wearables/collars interpreting data and how clients can maximise utilisation.
- Administer Bolus, carry out routine vaccinations and advise clients on vaccination schedules.
- Metrichecking and metricuring, ultrasound pregnancy testing, teatseal administration and calf disbudding.
- Carry out research projects such as lameness, body condition scoring and more.
- Supporting our large animal vets day to day with their clients to deliver the highest standards of care.
- Build strong relationships with clients, offering guidance and support in their animal's health journey.
- Pursue continuing education and stay current with the latest advancements in the veterinary technician space.

What You’ll Bring:
We're looking for someone who's as passionate about animals as we are and brings:
- A minimum of 2 years vet tech experience working with production animals on farm, preferably with training and experience in pregnancy scanning dairy cattle (role A only).
- A New Zealand Diploma in Rural Animal Veterinary Technology (Level 6) (role B only).
- A full and clean New Zealand class 1 driver's licence.
- A passion for farm systems and delivering outstanding client and patient care.
- Great communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with your clients.
- An interest in the latest animal technology wearables.
- Can thrive in a busy environment and can manage the ebbs and flows of the nature of seasonal farming work.
- Enthusiasm, drive and a willingness to learn.
- A team-first mindset, thriving in a collaborative environment where everyone supports each other.
- A sound understanding of the Animal Welfare Act, and a strong sense of compassion and empathy.
