About the role

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with clients, and taking instructions
  • Review and analysis of records
  • Drafting written communications to clients
  • Briefing medical experts, and allied health professionals
  • Drafting court documents
  • Attending court for procedural hearings
  • Briefing and liaising with barristers

The experience we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced lawyer with strong client service focus, personable approach, and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have 3+ years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:

  • A valid practising certificate;
  • Prior experience working within a Personal injury, Medical Negligence or Litigation environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust;
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management skills, and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner;
  • A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in Victoria;
  • The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds and;
  • A solutions focused outlook with a proactive approach to deliver quality outcomes
