Te āheinga: The opportunity
We are seeking a Registered Nurse who is passionate about teaching and committed to supporting student success. Your clinical expertise will help deliver courses across the Bachelor of Nursing programme, using contemporary, research-informed approaches to learning.
These roles offer variety and impact—teaching in classrooms, simulation labs, and supervising students in clinical settings. Whether your experience is in acute medical-surgical, mental health, older persons health, primary health care, or human bioscience, we welcome your skills and enthusiasm.
Key Teaching Responsibilities
- Facilitate Learning Across Diverse Areas: Deliver engaging courses in acute care, mental health, aged care, and primary health care.
- Hands-on Education: Teach in classrooms and simulation labs and supervise students during clinical placements.
- Innovative Teaching Practices: Apply research-based strategies to support student achievement and readiness for practice.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You’ll have:
- Registration as a New Zealand (NZ) Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
- A minimum of 3 years post graduate nursing practice experience (a NCNZ requirement).
- A keen interest and be open to learn more about education and facilitating student learning in a classroom, clinical practice area and simulation lab.
- A qualification to master's level or a definite plan to work towards this (NCNZ requirement).
- An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
- Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments

In general, as nurse educators, we can influence the community of Waitakere through the support/training of nursing students who will then be able to support the maintenance of physical/mental/emotional health for people in Waitakere and wider communities. Health New Zealand requires more Registered Nurses to be trained and committed to the Waitakere community to ensure that there are sufficient resources to support the growing healthcare needs in this area.
