About the Role:

Curtin School of Allied Health is currently seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join our team and make a difference in the field of social work. In this position, the ideal candidate will play a vital role in unit coordination, fieldwork, and teaching, as well as have relevant expertise and practical experience in social work, particularly in mental health.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Design and conduct engaging learning activities across various formats (online, face-to-face) to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to innovate curriculum and develop effective learning materials, while assessing student needs and providing necessary support.
  • Supervise honours and postgraduate students, maintaining awareness of current discipline practices and contributing to professional development in higher education.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to course delivery, including assessment moderation, and ensure that curricular innovations accommodate diverse student needs for a successful university experience.
Selection Criteria:
  • A doctoral qualification in Social Work (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for a Teaching Academic role).
  • Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake unit coordination.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
Role Requirements:
  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
  • This is a part-time role (0.6FTE), the preferred working days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday however this is open for discussion.
  • Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
