An opportunity exists for a Legal Education Specialist in our Practice Services team.
AGS is seeking applications from an experienced trainer with a strong legal background to join its Practice Services team. The Legal Education Specialist will be responsible for the developing, delivering and promoting training on a range of dispute resolution and public law topics delivered to AGS’s clients, including contributing to learning design and presentation skills support. The role will regularly engage with National Managers from each of AGS’s legal practice areas to anticipate training needs and ensure training activities align with organisational priorities, are engaging, and fit for purpose.
Working with the National Manager Library and Practice Services (NMLPS) and the Legal Training Manager, the Legal Education Specialist will support the training team and contribute to the strategic direction and management of AGS’s training programs (both internal and external).

About the role
The Practice Services team works collaboratively with AGS’s legal practice and has responsibility for a diverse range of support functions including the management of AGS’s training programs (both internal and external).
The Legal Education Specialist role reports to the NMLPS and will work collaboratively with them, the legal practice areas within AGS and the Legal Training Manager to design and deliver and coordinate internal and external training activities.
In this role you will:
- develop, design and deliver high-quality legal training across a wide range of complex legal topics for the benefit of AGS clients and staff
- provide authoritative training guidance and learning design support to presenters
- represent and promote AGS in national forums with high-quality presentations and training that clearly articulates AGS’s expertise
- work collaboratively with the NMLPS and Legal Training Manager to advance the strategic direction of AGS’s training programs
- monitor new developments in law, policy and practice of relevance to AGS’s training programs, and
- assist the training team with the coordination and administration of internal and external training activities.

About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- formal legal qualifications
- formal qualifications and/or demonstrated experience as a trainer
- significant legal experience or legal training expertise (generally 8 years or more at the EL2 level or 5 years or more at the EL1 level). Experience in dispute resolution and/or public law is highly desirable
- demonstrated professional leadership skills and behaviours
- strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities, and
- demonstrated ability to exercise high levels of discretion, integrity and diplomacy to professionally manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
