Line Cook/Prep Cook

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals and ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices, as well as a commitment to delivering exceptional food service in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and measuring spices.
  • Cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of food items.
  • Follow all food safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of both staff and customers.
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to management.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation during peak hours.
  • Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations within the food industry.
  • Experience in meal preparation and cooking within a restaurant or food service setting.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely meal delivery.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
  • Attention to detail in food presentation and adherence to recipes.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining focus on quality.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

Language:

Licence/Certification:

  • VCH Food Handler Certification (required)
