Maintenance Technician I

Position Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility by performing the following duties. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment and performs routine, scheduled designated preventative maintenance.
  • Discusses machine operation variations with management or production workers to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Monitor the progress of maintenance activities for effective compliance with maintenance plan.
  • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Respond to inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Repairs hand tool equipment.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Develops and conducts interior painting on an annual schedule.
  • Conducts minor plumbing work as required.
  • Conducts minor building repairs as required.
  • Cleans, organizes and assist in all custodial work as needed.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed.
  • Cleans and maintains buildings and facilities.
  • Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering.
  • Repairs and maintains physical interior structure of establishment.
  • Manages and control spare part and facility maintenance inventory.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

Credentials/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience
  • Forklift operator's license is required;
  • Driver's License is required;
  • Journeyman's card is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of TPM principles and practices.
  • Use and knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers
  • Knowledge and use of test equipment such as multi-meters.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and schematics.
  • Knowledge of HVAC.
  • Understanding of manufacturing equipment.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and excellent data entry skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
