About the Role

We have the opportunity available for a four-month secondment to join the NPHS Te Manawa Taki region, Strategy and Operations team as the Manager, People and Operations.

This role will see you leading the operational and people management within the team, and to drive across the region an organisational culture that supports delivery of the strategic and operational plans, meeting the NPHS performance expectations. This role includes supporting the senior medical officers within the service, working in partnership with the Regional Clinical Director, Public Health Medicine.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

About you

You will be a strong operational manager with experience in financial and change management, use to applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, with the ability to develop and implement effective organisational strategy, culture, and ways of working that deliver on organisation priorities.

Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor's qualification or equivalent experience, and management training
  • 3+ years of operational experience
  • Tertiary courses in Finance, Risk Management, Quality Improvement, Conflict Management, Stakeholder Engagement are desirable
  • Full current NZ Drivers Licence
  • Proven experience in leading change and service and quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience in working with iwi/ hapū and Māori communities
  • Understanding and experience working in partnerships with Pacific communities
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings desired
