JOB OVERVIEW:

NEAPCO Drivelines is looking for a hands-on, driven, and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join our growing team in Belleville, MI. In this role, you'll work alongside engineers, maintenance, and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes, troubleshoot automation systems, and support new product launches. You'll be right at the intersection of engineering innovation and shop-floor execution, helping ensure our production lines run at peak efficiency, quality, and safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support setup, validation, and troubleshooting of driveshaft manufacturing equipment, including weld cells, robotic assembly stations, and high-speed balancing machines.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Collect and analyze production data to uncover process bottlenecks and drive improvements.
  • Partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering on new product launches and process enhancements.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions for scrap, rework, and process deviations.
  • Help ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer quality standards.
  • Support off-shift troubleshooting and production readiness activities as needed.
  • Frequent interaction with production equipment and floor personnel is required, as well as off-shift support for launches or troubleshooting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, assembly, automation, and balancing operations.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic cells, PLCs, and production equipment setup/troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and quality systems.
  • Skilled in data collection and analysis using Excel or Minitab to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Proficient with mechanical tools and precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
  • Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and safety-focused, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical Technology or related technical discipline preferred, but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and practical experience in high-volume or automotive manufacturing will be considered.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience supporting production equipment, automation systems, or process improvement in a manufacturing environment preferred.
