Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Reporting to the Brand Marketing & Communications Manager, the Marketing Coordinator supports the execution and day-to-day management of brand marketing, communications, and PR initiatives for Birks. This role coordinates media relations, influencer partnerships, social content, events, and internal marketing operations to ensure brand-aligned execution, accurate tracking, and efficient delivery of campaigns that drive visibility, engagement, and sales.

Responsibilities

PR, Media Relations & Communications (Primary Focus)

  • Coordinate the development and updating of press kits, lookbooks, and other media materials.
  • Maintain and manage media and press contact lists, and support outreach for seasonal moments, collection launches, and brand initiatives.
  • Oversee owned PR communication channels, ensuring brand-aligned and up-to-date materials are available for media and stakeholder access.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming inquiries through the press inbox in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify and compile relevant social and PR opportunities and trends to support planning and outreach efforts.

Influencer Partnerships, Gifting & Product Loans

  • Support the coordination and execution of approved PR initiatives including sponsorships, gifting, and donations.
  • Coordinate and execute product loans and influencer partnerships, ensuring accurate documentation, timely fulfillment, and clear communication with all parties.
  • Manage internal tracking and documentation for PR activities, including product loans, donations, gifting, and outbound shipments.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for influencers and partners, supporting relationship management across collaborations and sponsorships.
  • Support PR initiatives by attending third-party photoshoots and activations as required.

Social Media Support

  • Support social media execution by writing copy and acting as a liaison between Creative and Digital teams, ensuring clear briefings and smooth handoffs for publishing.
  • Coordinate user-generated content (UGC) initiatives across social channels, including outreach and building a consistent pipeline of content.
  • Schedule content across Birks’ owned social media accounts in alignment with the content calendar.
  • Support brand consistency by monitoring and ensuring tone of voice alignment across all marketing channels, including web, social, PR, and related materials.


Events & Brand Activations

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of Birks brand events, including internal support and event preparation.
  • Support the coordination and execution of product launches, sales initiatives, and seasonal campaigns as needed.


Marketing Operations, Inventory & Administration

  • Manage the execution of marketing initiatives through the project management tool (Asana) by assigning tasks to key departments and supporting timely campaign launches.
  • Oversee and track invoices for all initiatives and bookings, providing accurate accrual reporting to the Marketing Administrator and supporting disciplined budget management.
  • Manage the care, handling, and movement of jewellery within Marketing inventory, including pick-up/drop-off coordination, secure organization, and post-use cleaning and returns.
  • Coordinate the ordering and administrative support for Birks in-store visual merchandising assets, including displays, fitments, and materials required for visual flips.
  • Oversee the organization and upkeep of the Marketing storage space, including monitoring packaging inventory levels and managing reorders.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Brand Marketing & Communications Manager with additional marketing tasks and requests to support department efficiency.


Our Ideal Candidate has;

Bachelor Degree in Marketing and/or Communications

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 to 2 years experience in Marketing or communications
  • Has a general understanding of all marketing and communications channels
  • Experience in Asana an asset
  • Experience in public relations, communications, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Experience in copy-writing and/or content creation
  • Experience in luxury goods and/or retail is a strong asset.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
