Medium Rail Plant Operator – Bendigo Night Shift

  • Sunday – Wednesday roster, 20:00pm – 5:30am

About the role

Join us as a Medium Rail Plant Operator in V/Line’s Assets and Maintenance Group!

Reporting to the Track Maintenance Supervisor, you will operate medium-category trucks and machinery to help maintain the 500 kilometres of track along the Bendigo line.

In this hands-on role, you will assist in replacing track components like sleepers, rails, and ballast while prioritising safety.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Loading and unloading equipment for transportation.

  • Taking full responsibility for the truck and plant ensuring maintenance and servicing are completed as required.

  • Participating in the replacement of rail components like track, ballasts, and fastenings, and performing general maintenance and cleaning.

  • Ensure that all operations comply with safety standards.

  • Assist the team with manual labouring tasks when not operating plant and machinery.

  • There will be the requirement to work overtime, stay away from home, travel to different locations and work different shifts on occasion.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Hold a certificate II Rail Infrastructure or be willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.

  • A valid medium rigid (MR) Truck License is Essential.

  • Excavator experience with the required competencies.

  • Backhoe, excavator and front-end loader experience with the required competencies are desirable.

  • Experience in rail or civil is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.

The remuneration for this position is $44 per hour, plus penalty rates in accordance with the V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2023.
