The Opportunity
The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking the next experienced and dynamic leader in liturgy, worship and prayer. This is an exciting invitation to join the recently launched Mission & Evangelisation (M&E) team positioning itself to more deeply accompany parish communities into the future.
The Mission & Evangelisation Partner – Worship is part of an outward-looking, inter-connected and collaborative group who will provide significant leadership to all who seek advice and formation in this space. Your purpose will be to inspire and support faith communities that:
- Engage deeply in liturgy, worship and prayer.
- Lead and participate in genuine faith formation.
- Seek opportunities for mission in word and deeds.

The Mission & Evangelisation (M&E) team in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle focuses on sharing the Gospel with the contemporary world. They provide leadership and resources for Catholic formation, training, and encounters across the diocese.
This role supports faith communities to:
- Thrive in prayer, worship, and liturgy.
- Engage in and lead local faith formation.
- Seek mission opportunities in the world.
Skills and Experiences:
Experience/Criteria
- Person of faith with a commitment to the Catholic Church and a passion for formation and mission.
- Commitment to collaborative ministry and working with the Diocesan Liturgy Council.
- Pastoral experience in nurturing the liturgical life of communities.
- Ability to engage others in collaborative processes that develop supportive relationships amongst liturgical ministers and are focused on developing the liturgical life of the Church of Maitland-Newcastle.
- Ability to listen and be flexible.
- Commitment to the Catholic faith.
- Organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to engage, inspire, influence and deliver.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Sound computer literacy including the ability to effectively operate the Microsoft Office suite.
- Tertiary qualifications in Theology, liturgy, adult faith formation and/or Religious Education, or equivalent qualification.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- NSW Employee Working with Children Check.
- Understanding and experience with Theological Reflection and discernment (Desirable).
