Job Description:
Asseta Finance, a leading mortgage brokerage specializing in alternative lending and private mortgages, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mortgage Specialist/Underwriter to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate Mortgage Applications: Analyze and underwrite mortgage files, ensuring compliance with lender guidelines and company policies.
- Document Gathering: Communicate with clients and brokers to collect all necessary documents, including income verification, credit reports, and property appraisals.
- File Submission: Prepare and submit completed mortgage files to lenders for approval, maintaining accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct a thorough review of applications to assess risks and identify the best lending solutions for clients.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, brokers, and lenders to ensure smooth processing and resolve any issues.
- Compliance: Stay up to date with industry regulations and lender requirements to ensure all files meet compliance standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team and brokers to meet deadlines and achieve company goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience in mortgage underwriting or a related field (private lending experience is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of mortgage products, lending guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple files simultaneously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency on a computer

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $59,726.00-$64,515.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
