National Planning Assistant

T&G Fresh has been nourishing generations of Kiwis with fresh fruit and vegetables for over 125 years. Our domestic operations in New Zealand span the entire supply chain—growing, packing, marketing, selling, distributing, and exporting produce from our own orchards and farms, as well as from over 600 Kiwi growers. At the heart of this operation is our transport business, which plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery of fresh produce from farm to retailers, delivering the quality and freshness our customer’s trust.

About the Role

We're looking for a National Planning Assistant to join our small, close-knit and supportive team. Based within our national transport network, this role is key to keeping our linehaul operation running smoothly, ensuring our customers receive the right service, at the right time.

You’ll take the lead in building and executing the national linehaul plan each day—optimising the use of our own fleet and sub-contractors to ensure efficient, compliant deliveries. You’ll also manage ferry bookings and monitor fleet servicing and scheduling as required.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Create and communicate the daily national linehaul plan
  • Monitor truck movements and maintain communication across depots
  • Manage ferry crossing bookings with Interislander and Bluebridge
  • Coordinate servicing and COF scheduling for our fleet
  • Support national dispatch activities—full Sunday despatch and ad hoc cover
  • Maintain and reconcile transport records and reports
  • Liaise with internal teams and external sub-contractors
  • Look for opportunities to improve fleet efficiency and utilisation
  • Alternating Saturdays on-call

About You:

Our ideal candidate has a background in logistics, planning, or scheduling. Transport experience would be advantageous; however, we can teach that to the right person.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Be tech savvy and confident using Google Docs, Excel and scheduling tools.
  • Have strong numeracy skills - you’ll be doing a lot of planning and counting
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing / emails.
  • Be calm under pressure, resilient, and easily adaptable to change.
  • Demonstrate great common sense and a proactive mindset.
  • Be a fast learner, who can easily retain and apply operational knowledge.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a tight-knit, collaborative team that values support and flexibility. While Sundays are required, we do offer more flexibility than most roles in transport—making it easier to balance work with life, including better access to public holidays. You'll also enjoy a competitive salary.

Proof of eligibility to work in New Zealand is required for all applicants and any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory drug test, credit check, driver licence check, and security check.

We want T&G to be a place where everyone is accepted, respected and celebrated for who they are – regardless of our similarities or differences. It’s essential that everyone can be themselves and thrive, and that together we create a diverse and vibrant workplace.
