The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement. A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), Worldwide Olympic Partners and Media Rights-Holders. It also works with public and private authorities, including the United Nations and other international organisations.

As Olympic Games Finance Manager, your mission will be to act as a liaison between the IOC Finance and the IOC Games departments on Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs) and/or Youth Olympic Games (YOGOCs) financial management matters.

Main responsibilities:

Games Finance Management - Planning, coordination & activity follow-up

  • Support the Senior Manager and wider Commercial and Games Finance team in the coordination and monitoring of the wider financial management activities of the Summer and Winter Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs) and/or Youth Olympic Games (YOGOCs) from the candidature phase until dissolution.
  • Areas of responsibility for this role include, among others, OGOC/YOGOC Financial Planning, VIK Management, Financial Systems, Procurement & Contract Management, Rate Card, Insurance, and Dissolution Phase.
  • Provide support, guidance and share expertise to the OCOGs/YOGOCs teams in their financial planning and execution phases.
  • Be a liaison between the wider IOC Finance team (Financial Planning, Accounting, Commercial Finance, Taxes, Procurement, Insurance) and other IOC teams through streamlining needed information, coordinate and provide assistance in the management of the bilateral financial tasks and/or obligations between the IOC and OCOGs/YOGOCs throughout the whole lifecycle of operations until the final financial reconciliation post-Games.
  • Perform the administrative tasks linked with the internal IOC monitoring and coordination mechanisms (and tools) of the OCOGs/YOGOCs:
    • Review / update Olympic Games Operational Requirements, Guides (Olympic Games) / Event Manual (YOG)
    • Participate in internal coordination meetings
    • Update Master Schedule timelines and/or issue trackers
    • Prepare meeting agendas and follow up reports
    • Keep project documentation up-to-date (Sharepoint space)
    • Review OCOGs/YOGOCs foundation and operational plans, contracts, etc.
    • Support on the yearly budgeting process and budget management of the Unit and administer all the necessary tasks through the different internal financial management tools (SAP, Ariba, etc)
  • Participate and lead (as requested) the IOC transfer of knowledge activities including developing template reports and analyse information (statistical or other). Be responsible for the content management of transfer of knowledge workshops/debriefs (for the functional areas under responsibility).
  • Liaise closely with the Information, Knowledge and Games Learning (IKL) team in the organisation of the information in the transfer of knowledge platforms.
  • Participate in special projects such as OCOGs’/YOGOCs’ optimisation streams and other, according to needs.

Other support to Games and Commercial Finance team

  • Develop and maintain impactful recurrent and ad-hoc financial reports to support strategic Games and Commercial finance decision-making.
  • Support the wider team in the financial management of the delivery of existing commercial contracts in relation to goods and services (value-in-kind and cash) and support the negotiation of new ones, working closely with ITMS (IOC Television and Marketing Services), other IOC relevant departments and the relevant external stakeholders including OCOGs.

Project management

  • Ensures the smooth communication, coordination and management of the OCOGs/YOGOCs financial aspects across the various departments of the IOC (including within the Finance department).
  • Lead IOC project management responsibilities relating to OCOGs/YOGOCs activities within the scope of activities.
  • Create and maintain updated tools, templates and formats as needed to facilitate the project management of the different areas under responsibility.

Requirements and Professional Competencies

  • Advanced university degree, master’s degree or equivalent qualification in business/finance.
  • Experience in financial management, with emphasis in financial planning (budgeting).
  • Experience in project management and Smartsheet.
  • Excellent Command of key MS Office tools - Advanced command of Excel.
  • Good command of SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Power BI is an advantage.
  • Experience in multi-sport (mega) events would be strongly advantageous.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced command of English and French.
