Multiple Kiwifruit Orchard Supervisors wanted to join our growing teams in Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Whanganui.
These are full-time, permanent positions guaranteeing at least 30 hours of work per week, but you will usually work between 40 to 50 hours per week. The pay rate is $32 per hour.
These leadership roles involve overseeing Team Leaders and ensuring operational efficiency while prioritising health and safety compliance.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee and support Team Leaders in managing orchard workers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
· Ensuring accuracy of timesheet reports provided by Team Leaders, and reporting record data to senior management for invoicing purposes.
· Plan and facilitate regular health and safety meetings with Team Leaders and their teams to reinforce standards and address concerns.
· Train Team Leaders and workers on health and safety protocols, emergency procedures, and orchard-specific safety standards.
· Inspect and maintain adequate health and safety supplies, including first aid kits, and coordinate first aid training for selected team members.
· Ensure that all machinery and equipment used on the orchards are properly maintained and comply with safety regulations.
· Conduct regular and random inspections of orchards to ensure workers use personal safety equipment and follow health and safety protocols.
· Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, preparing thorough reports for senior management.
· Maintain communication with growers, senior management, and external parties regarding health and safety compliance.
· Provide leadership in resolving workplace issues, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Requirements:
· Tertiary qualification (level 4 or higher), ideally in horticulture, but will also consider qualifications in management/business/administration and leadership, or
· At least 3 years’ experience in the kiwifruit industry, with excellent knowledge of kiwifruit vine husbandry (knowledge will be extensively tested at interview)
· Intricate knowledge of workplace safety standards. (Knowledge will be extensively tested at interview)
· Ability to communicate effectively to a multi-cultural team, growers and other team leaders/management.
· Willing and able to work long hours/days (7 day a week operation with rostered days off).
· Strong work ethic, reliable and a positive attitude.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
