Position Summary
Scarsdale Community Baptist Church is seeking a part-time Director of Children’s Ministries to provide spiritual leadership, care, and programming for children from birth through 5th grade and their families. This role will help strengthen children’s ministry, support parents, build volunteer teams, and create welcoming pathways for young families to become more connected to the church. The ideal candidate is spiritually mature, highly relational, organized, and able to lead with both warmth and initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Children’s Ministry Leadership
- Lead weekly Children’s Worship service on Sunday mornings (this occurs during the final 45 minutes of the main church service).
- Lead or coordinate the Children’s Sunday School class on Sunday mornings (immediately preceding the main church service).
- Provide vision and oversight for children from birth through 5th grade.
- Work with the Director of Youth Ministries and Church School Superintendent to organize major children and family events, including Vacation Bible School, Christmas Pageant, Easter, Christmas, and other seasonal or mission-focused events.
- Ensure children’s ministry is aligned with the church’s overall teaching and ministry direction.
Family Engagement & Communication
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and young families.
- Send regular parent communications and quarterly ministry calendars.
- Maintain communication through WhatsApp, email, website updates, and other church channels.
- Help create welcoming pathways for new families and visitors.
Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, encourage, and support children’s ministry volunteers.
- Build healthy volunteer teams with clear expectations and spiritual care.
- Work closely with the Church School Superintendent, church staff, and SCBC Preschool leadership.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
- Attend monthly Board of Religious Education meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate ministry records, track attendance, visitors, and follow-up needs.
- Report regularly to the Senior Pastor.
- Coordinate with church leadership to support the broader mission of SCBC.
Qualifications
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with the theological commitments of SCBC.
- Passion for discipling children and supporting families.
- 2–3 years of children’s or family ministry experience preferred.
- Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
- Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills.
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule, including Sundays, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Salary
$25 per hour
Pay: $25.00 per hour
