Patient Financial Counselor ( On Site)

Job Summary:

The Patient Financial Counselor (PFC) serves as a one-on-one, single point of contact between the patient, providers, external departments, and other responsible parties to ensure accurate financial estimates are communicated, collected, and recorded appropriately.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares self-pay and insurance out-of-pocket estimates and clearly explains the estimate details to the patient.
  • Interviews patients to gather accurate demographic and financial information, especially for self-pay or high-risk cases, and assists with financial assistance or charity care applications as needed.
  • Educates patients on their benefit coverage and insurance responsibilities.
  • Documents all patient account interactions in the appropriate note fields, forms, or databases in the practice management (PM) software.
  • Explains available financial options, including third-party financing such as CareCredit or other approved programs.
  • Provides financial counseling to patients with outstanding balances who are scheduled for surgery.
  • Performs daily payment collection and reconciliation duties.
  • May assist with scheduling diagnostic or surgical procedures, verifying required documentation, and explaining procedure guidelines as directed by leadership.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies or vendors to ensure all payer sources have been exhausted before approving charity write-offs.
  • Responds to all price estimate requests within 48 business hours.
  • Interviews patients, families, and related parties within HIPAA guidelines and works with insurance companies to verify eligibility, benefits, and secondary coverage.
  • This is a non-clinical role. The PFC does not provide clinical advice or make medical decisions. All clinical questions or concerns are triaged according to provided scripts and referred as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of reimbursement practices, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience with billing systems and payment collection processes.
  • Strong customer service, communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, solve problems, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of insurance concepts, including both private and government-sponsored plans.
  • Basic telephone skills (e.g., transferring calls, conferencing, placing calls on hold).
  • Familiarity with ICD 9/10 & CPT Codes, basic coding, and billing.
  • Works well in a team environment with a positive and professional attitude.

This is an ONSITE and NIGHT SHIFT schedule.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php30,000.00 - Php35,000.00 per month
