- Monitor and verify data from time sheets in a computerized system in an accurate manner.
- Communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written form with County employees about payroll procedures and County policies; communicate with outside sources concerning payroll issues.
- Work as a team to assist payroll supervisor in all facets of the payroll department functions. Assists in generating special payrolls.
- Enter and maintain employee files pertaining to payroll deductions.
- Develop additional forms and create reports in computer system as requested by various departments.
- Communicate with outside sources about payroll issues
- Reconcile supplemental insurance by compiling the information sent by the vendor in addition to using the deducted amount from the employee pay check.
- Oversee activities of part time employees
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma/GED. Associate degree in Accounting preferred.
- 3 years payroll related experience.
- Strong computer skills and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM).
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, database and desktop publishing and ability to learn information technology applications.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task; Self-motivated and deadline oriented.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and elected officials.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, experienced in payroll processing and time-keeping systems preferred.
- CPP preferred.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
