Peers Envisioning and Engaging in Recovery Services (PEERS) is a nonprofit organization that provides peer-based wellness programs and support. We envision a world where people can freely choose among many recovery options that address the needs of the whole person. We provide programs that specifically support people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ, women, and transition age youth (TAY) communities. We are a unique and transformative organization that is led by staff and board members who are primarily either consumers of mental health services or family members of consumers. services for people with mental health needs. We are currently seeking people to join our Board of Directors, which provides oversight, governance, and strategic planning guidance for the organization, while day-to-day operations are led by the PEERS Executive Director.

You are looking to:
- Connect with people who are passionate about supporting mental health and wellness programs for the whole person and eliminating stigma
- Build and develop your leadership skills (e.g., fundraising, strategic thinking and planning, organizational development, working collaboratively with an executive director)
- Support a community-based organization by sharing your expertise and knowledge
- Learn about mental health issues that pertain to the diverse communities in which you participate and are engaged
We are seeking people who:
- Have personal experience with the mental health system of care by being a recipient/consumer of services or having a family member as a recipient/consumer (strongly preferred)
- Can articulate and demonstrate passion and interest in PEERS’ mission
- Have the ability to maintain confidentiality and trust
- Have experience helping organizations develop, either as a volunteer, staff, board member, or funder
- Can commit to participation at quarterly evening meetings (dinner is provided)
- Skills and expertise that are desired: human resources experience, strategic planning, finance, fundraising, event planning, legal, organizational development, public speaking, social media,
