Summary

Commun-ET is hiring an experienced Permitting Manager with strong knowledge of commercial permitting, construction processes, utility coordination, and multi-jurisdictional project management. This role manages a high-volume permitting portfolio for national clients and supports entitlement strategy, due diligence, inspections coordination, and utility approvals.

This is a full-time, remote position with limited travel (less than 20%).

Responsibilities

  • Manage permitting and entitlement activities for 100 to 150 commercial projects annually
  • Conduct zoning, building code, and utility due diligence research
  • Prepare and submit planning, zoning, building, MEP, fire protection, health, demolition, and signage permit applications
  • Coordinate utilities including water, sewer, stormwater, gas, electric, and telecommunications
  • Build jurisdiction-specific schedules, workflows, and scope sheets using Monday.com and Smartsheet
  • Track submittals, comments, resubmissions, approvals, and inspections
  • Maintain organized records, drawings, reports, and permitting logs
  • Communicate professionally with architects, engineers, general contractors, and government reviewers
  • Develop permitting strategies to expedite approvals and resolve issues
  • Assist with proposals, client communications, and process improvements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, Public Policy, or a related field
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in construction, permitting, development, or regulatory processes
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial permitting experience (multi-site preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing large project portfolios across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proficiency in Monday.com, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, and PDF markup tools
  • Ability to read architectural, civil, and MEP drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range: $70,000 to $107,500 based on experience
