Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Billing Virtual Assistant with experience and knowledge of personal injury and Letter of Protection (LOP) cases. This role is responsible for compiling, reviewing, and submitting complete billing packets to patient attorneys to facilitate timely payment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in handling medical documentation and billing workflows within a personal injury setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and compile required documents, including:
- Final patient ledger
- SOAP notes
- Claim forms
- Complete patient medical records
- Affidavits
- Review all documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Organize documentation into a clear, professional billing packet
- Submit completed billing packets to patient attorneys via email or designated channels
- Track submitted packets and maintain organized records of submissions
- Follow up with attorneys or internal teams as needed regarding missing documents or payment status
- Ensure all documentation meets LOP and personal injury case requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy standards (HIPAA)
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing or healthcare administration or handling personal injury cases within a law office
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Personal injury cases
- Letter of Protection (LOP) workflows
- Familiarity with medical documentation, including SOAP notes and patient records
- Strong organizational and document management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (especially Excel/Sheets)
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., eCW or similar platforms)
- Experience communicating with attorneys or legal offices
- Background in accounts receivable or collections in a medical setting
