Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital or LTC pharmacy setting and possess strong skills in patient care and medication administration. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients, particularly in critical care and acute care environments.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Conduct intake processes for new prescriptions and medication orders, ensuring accuracy in patient information and medical terminology.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, addressing concerns, and educating patients about their medications.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and inventory management within the pharmacy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care outcomes, particularly in critical care settings.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety protocols within the pharmacy environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance knowledge of pharmacy practices and patient care techniques.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required;
- Familiarity with medical terminology, acute care practices, and critical care environments is essential.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique as it relates to IV infusion preparation.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
