The Australian Academy of Photography is a leading provider of Photography education, offering flexible learning through distance learning, live online classes, and classroom-based delivery. Students are provided with a variety of media through which they can attend the courses:
· Online learning environment and distance learning
· Classroom learning
· Blended distance and classroom learning
As we expand our RTO product range, we are recruiting a freelance Photography Trainer/Assessor to join our academic team and support our nationally accredited Diploma course.
Course
CUA50920 Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging
This is a freelance position.
In-person classes are based in Melbourne, VIC 3000, and Sydney, 2000.
Online classes - location - remote.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide support, guidance and tuition to students in an online environment as well as in a blended learning / classroom setting.
- Deliver and assess units from the CUA50920 Diploma according to the Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS)
Ensure compliance with RTO Standards 2015 including the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence
- Develop student’s creativity and problem solving skills through well written assessment feedback
- Provide timely, detailed and constructive assessment feedback to develop creative and technical skills
- Communicate and engage with students through email and on line forums
- Maintain up-to-date trainer files, PD plans, and industry engagement logs
- Collaborate with the Senior Academic Operations Manager and Academic Team to ensure course quality and relevance
- Engage in validation, moderation, and regular professional development
- Attend briefings and professional development as required
- Requirements:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
- Degree-qualified Photographer, from a recognised academic institution
- Recent vocational experience and credible industry portfolio
- Experience delivering nationally accredited training
- Familiarity with LMS platforms and online learning
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English is a distinct advantage
- Commit to two Saturdays per month for in-person or live online delivery (evening sessions also available)

- Prior experience teaching or assessing in the VET or higher education sector
- Documented industry engagement within the past 12 months
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, student-focused approach
- Enthusiasm for education and mentoring within the creative industries
